94-year-old Millie's Adventurous Spirit Is Contagious
LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 21, 2019 (Newswire.com) - So far, the video of Millie’s Slip ‘N Slide adventure has garnered 5.2 million views, 13,000 likes, 8,000 comments and 84,469 shares, with no signs of stopping. It’s easy to understand why—the nine-second video is better on every loop. Dressed in sock-feet and sitting on a bright yellow, inflatable duck, 94-year-old Millie careens towards the camera, pulled by employees of The Oaks at NorthPointe, a Trilogy Senior Living Community located in Zanesville, Ohio. As she comes skidding to a stop, she laughs and grins. The Slip ‘N Slide was actually Millie’s idea in the first place—just another in a series of many she’s had since her time at NorthPointe.
“Millie has lived with us for going on two years in July, and she’s very adventurous,” commented Jackie Altier, Executive Director at The Oaks at NorthPointe. “She’s always looking for opportunities to get outdoors and try new things. She’s the reason we went sledding this past winter. She kept asking us to take her further and further up the hill! She is truly a resident leader. She was the first person down the Slip ‘N Slide, and she ended up going three times!”
